Reviews

I have commissioned various artworks from Walyendo Gallery with my recent one being a portrait of my dog. Walyendo Edgar captured his personality and features perfectly and I am thrilled about the outcome. The process was smooth, with great communication and progress updates. The painting is proudly displayed in our family home, and is truly a treasured piece. If you’re thinking about commissioning artworks, I highly recommend the artist!

Edgar is one of the best Art professionals I have known so far. He has a passion for art and has been helping my daughters learn and love art.

Edgar made the first portrait of my daughter when she was one year old and he did another when she made 11 and ohh my these are my most favorite and precious photos of time. That every time I look at them I am reminded of the beauty I created. Thank you Edgar. Keep thriving, you are an inspiration to our generation. Well done.

Edgar made several beautiful paintings with a lot of personal meaning. He is very easy to communicate with and very trustworthy. Besides that, he is a very joyful person to spend time with. His paintings are of high quality and he easily adapts to your wishes and preferences, making sure that you will be happy with the final result. Thanks again!

Edgar is a great artist and incredibly productive. I’ve bought six of his artworks, and they either fascinate me on a daily basis or have made wonderful gifts. I keep one of them at my workplace and the others in my apartment. When discussing art and ideas, Edgar listens carefully and can quickly pinpoint exactly what you’ll love about a piece. It’s great to work with him.

Edgar knows how to cultivate the artist within any individual. Besides practical techniques, he taught me how to develop an artistic lens, which has been constructive to the improvement of my art practice. He's also well-versed on the interrelationship between art and climate resilience

About Me

Visual Artist &
Social Change Maker

Walyendo Edgar Brevis

I am a self-taught artist and social change maker from Uganda, a country often referred to as the “Pearl of Africa.” I belong to the Bantu ethnic group, specifically the Busoga tribe. My work is deeply influenced by a passion for transformative change and the principles of social innovation. Through my practice, I blend creativity with elements of nature, which remain central to my artistic expression.

I have participated in numerous art festivals both nationally and internationally. While my artistic journey began in childhood with colored pencil drawings and portraiture, my current practice spans a wide range of mediums and subjects, including canvas painting (oil & acrylic), murals, imaginative compositions, upcycling projects, and digital paintings.

Internationally, I have collaborated with the Government of India through artist residencies and festival programs, particularly in the states of Gujarat and Odisha. These experiences have expanded my creative perspective and strengthened my commitment to using art as a tool for cultural exchange, environmental awareness, and social transformation.
